Abby Hawkins, MSW, LCSW

Abby combines her warm, genuine, and affirming presence as a therapist and supervisor with clinical skills grounded in evidence-based practices, bringing more than seven years’ experience serving children, teens, and adults in a variety of community mental health settings across Philadelphia. Abby earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oberlin College. She is trained and experienced in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, graduated and prolonged exposure therapy, mindfulness practices, and is currently training for certification in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).

As an AEDP Level 2 therapist, Abby utilizes a relational approach that puts the neuroscience of attachment theory into practice in the therapeutic relationship to access and work through overwhelming emotions in a safe, empowering way. Her areas of clinical experience and interest include anxiety disorders, agoraphobia, OCD, disordered eating, managing chronic physical illness, relationship issues, stage-of-life transitional stressors, and LGBTQ+ related concerns with adolescents and adults.

Abby finds joy, satisfaction, and hope in her therapeutic work. She brings years of experience in serving children, teens, and adults in a variety of inpatient and outpatient community mental health settings across the Philadelphia area, and combines clinical skills grounded in effective, evidence-based practices with a warm, genuine, and affirming therapeutic and supervisory presence.

Abby earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oberlin College. She is currently in training for certification in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, an approach that puts the neuroscience of attachment theory into practice in the therapeutic relationship to work through past interpersonal traumas in a safe, empowering way.

She is also trained and experienced in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy to individuals and groups. Abby is excited to meet you and to be a part of your supervisory journey!
