Ted Koslowsky, MS, LPC

Ted Koslowsky is a licensed professional counselor in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He believes that the relationship between client and therapist is central to helping the client create positive change in their life. By joining with his clients, providing a warm and therapeutic environment, Ted provides the emotional space for the client to begin to open up, to learn about themselves, and to make changes in their lives. He believes that the client is the expert in their own life, and it is Ted’s job to join with them, to elicit what’s coming up inside, to reflect and consider, and to work with them to gain a new understanding of themselves.

Ted’s style is open, non-judgmental, genuine, and empathic. He believes that collaborating with clients, working as a team rather than acting as a director, is the most helpful and effective way to bring out each individual’s own natural powers to heal. Ted has training and experience in evidence-based treatment approaches and has worked in a variety of therapeutic settings.

He uses EMDR to help clients process past experiences so that they no longer affect the client in the present, as well as more present-focused interventions to reduce distress and allow more peace and equanimity in their lives. Assisting clients to resolve past traumatic experiences and move on with their lives is a central therapeutic interest for Ted.

Clinical Supervision with Ted

Ted Koslowsky, M.S. LPC provides clinical supervision for new, young, post-Master’s professionals, as well as those who are making a career change (Ted transitioned to counseling after spending years as an EMT in Boston). If you’re looking to hone your craft and make counseling part of (but not all of) who you are, this is your group.

In supervision, he takes the time to intentionally recognize and process the experience of being a therapist, working with other people, holding their stuff and ours while trying to make the best clinical decisions possible. Ted encourages participants to process challenging cases and share references to outside resources (books, articles, training, workshops, etc.) so you can build your own tool library.

Ted has experience in PHP, IOP, community mental health, and private practice environments, and he holds certification in CBT and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, canoeing, and white water rafting, and building ceiling-mounted catwalks for his three cats – GG, Potato, and Cindy-Loo-Hoo. He also likes to bike around Philadelphia and listen to music.

Ted’s group is offered Thursdays @ 9:00 am via Zoom. If Ted seems like a good clinical fit for you, please click on the get started button above and fill out the “request an appointment” form.
